These filters screw on the Ocular (Eye Piece) or the Objective of your device. Purple Filters are for the Ocular of your device making Green Phosphor appear more like white phosphor (see images above) Clear Filters can screw on the Ocular or the Objective which are great protection against scratches or impacts.
