The Steiner DBAL-D2 is a dual-beam aiming laser that features a slaved visible laser for daytime zeroing, an IR laser, and a powerful IR LED illuminator. Designed as an eye-safe civilian model, the IR laser is weaker than full-power military versions, but the focusable LED-based IR illuminator delivers exceptional performance in low-light environments.

While the DBAL-D2 offers enhanced illumination capabilities, it does have some trade-offs. The larger LED illuminator increases the unit’s size and weight, making it bulkier compared to some alternatives. Additionally, like other LED-based IR illuminators, including the SureFire Vampire series, the D2 produces a faint visible red glow from the reflector when active.
